Adventure Camp 2026
August 2-7, 2026
Overnight outdoor camp for youth completing grades 4–10
Looking for a summer camp that goes beyond the ordinary? With a special focus on the outdoors, this group camps out every night, takes a 12 mile bike ride, paddles on the river for a day, and cooks meals outdoors.
Adventure Camp at Claggett is a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience designed for youth who love the wild, the woods, and the thrill of the unknown. Campers will hike, bike, canoe, and kayak, all while camping out near Claggett’s rustic cabin site for most of the week—building resilience, leadership, and deep bonds with new and old friends. On the last night of camp, the older cohort of campers will take an overnight hike on the Appalachian Trail with specially trained counselors, and the younger cohort will enjoy camping out at Cunningham Falls state park. The two cohorts reconvene at South Mountain Creamery on the way home for ice cream and seeing baby cows!
Each day is packed with hands-on outdoor skills, teamwork challenges, and time for reflection and fun around the campfire. As with all Claggett camps, the week also includes daily chapel that invites campers to explore faith through creation, community, and wonder.
Ready to unplug and dive into the great outdoors? Adventure Camp space is limited.

Adventure Camp FAQs (Grades completed 4–10)
What kind of activities are included?
Adventure Camp is an immersive, week‑long experience featuring hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, and camping out at a rustic cabin site—designed for both beginners and seasoned outdoor lovers. That said, all campers need to know how to ride a bike before coming to Adventure Camp.
Where do campers sleep during the week?
Campers will sleep outdoors on the upper field in tents, except in cases of severe weather. On the last night of camp, campers will sleep in tents off site either at a designated campsite on the Appalachian Trail nearby, or at Cunningham Falls state park, depending on age. This is also severe-weather dependent.
In the case of severe weather, campers will sleep in either a Cottage or the Inn on Claggett’s main campus.
What outdoor skills and abilities are required for Adventure Camp?
No prior camping are required—these will be taught during camp! However, Adventure Camp is designed for campers who love being outdoors and are comfortable sleeping in a tent. Campers must be proficient bike riders and able to ride up to 10 miles. The program also includes an all-day canoe trip and an overnight hiking adventure, so a love of active, outdoor exploration is a must.
