DINING

“The food was first rate. The staff even better—the meals were offered with love and care, a true experience of hospitality.”

Nourishing Meals, Meaningful Moments

At the Claggett Center, we believe that meals are a vital part of the retreat experience—bringing people together around the table to share nourishment, connection, and community. Our friendly food service team prepares and serves three wholesome, delicious meals daily in two beautiful dining halls, each offering stunning views of Sugarloaf Mountain and the valley below. Meals are included with all overnight stays and can be added to day-use events as well.

Delaplaine Barn Dining Hall

For Youth and Young Adults

Youth and young adult groups dine in the Delaplaine Barn, where meals are served in a hybrid style—some items cafeteria-style and others family-style at the table. Guests also take part in “Kitchen Patrol,” helping to set and clear tables, fostering responsibility and community among participants.

Fresh, Seasonal Menus

Claggett’s menus change with the seasons, offering guests meals made with fresh ingredients and thoughtful care. A full salad bar with homemade dressings is included at lunch and dinner, and a variety of desserts are served daily, from cookies and bars to freshly baked treats.

Accommodating Dietary Needs

We strive to accommodate dietary restrictions when notified in advance. Each meal includes at least one option that meets common dietary needs such as vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan. We take food allergies seriously and do our best to incorporate them into the main meal whenever possible.

If that’s not feasible, our kitchen staff will prepare a separate, specially made meal to ensure every guest is safely and comfortably nourished. Group leaders are invited to check in with food service staff upon arrival to confirm final details and ensure every guest is well cared for.
