Dining at Claggett

Our friendly food service staff prepare and serve three wholesome and delicious meals daily in the beautiful Sugarloaf Dining Hall with spectacular views of Sugarloaf Mountain and valley. All meals are served buffet style. Meals are included in all of our overnight packages and can be a great addition for groups using the center for the day.

Seasonal Menus

Fresh flavors are the cornerstone of new seasonal menus in Sugarloaf Dining Hall! Seasonal menus are carefully crafted by the Claggett Center’s Executive Chef. A salad bar with homemade dressings is offered at both lunch and dinner. Assorted desserts are offered daily at dinnertime with cookies or bars served at lunch.

Dietary Needs

With your help in communicating your needs prior to your retreat, we are able to accommodate most dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and vegan. Special diet options are typically served from the kitchen window to the right of the main buffet line. Group leaders are invited to check in with kitchen staff upon arrival to touch base about final dietary needs and discuss where they will be served.

Snacks, Receptions, & Banquets

The Claggett Center offers full-service catering options to enhance the hospitality of your event. For an additional charge, guest groups may select to add a continental breakfast, coffee and tea service, assorted snacks, sack lunch, or a catered reception or banquet to your event. The Claggett Center’s Guest Services Coordinator and Executive Chef will work with you prior to your event to select the options that best meet the needs of your group.

About Executive Chef, Thomas Roberts

Chef Thomas Roberts is a graduate of Baltimore International Culinary College with over twenty years of culinary experience. He started his career as a sous chef at resorts in Vail, Colorado and in fine dining restaurants in Frederick, Maryland. Prior to working at the Claggett Center, Chef Thomas served as the Executive Chef at the Capital Market in the United States Capitol building, as well as at Hollow Creek Golf Club and Hood College. Chef Thomas started as the Executive Chef at the Claggett Center in 2016.
