ACCOMMODATIONS

Claggett offers overnight accommodation for groups from 5 to 180! Powell Hall is ideally suited for youth groups, although other large groups may also appreciate the 103 dormitory style beds. The other 70+ beds are in 5 cottages spread around campus. Most buildings include meeting/fellowship space and kitchenettes for coffee and beverage service. All provide unique views to the beautiful landscape that surrounds the Claggett Center

Cottages

Doll Cottage was built in 1981 and is named after Bishop Harry Lee Doll, Bishop of Maryland from 1963 to 1971. Doll Cottage offers the best sunrise views on campus! It has eleven double occupancy rooms, bathrooms that are shared with every two rooms and two large meeting spaces all under one roof. A piano is provided in each meeting space. Coffee & tea service and linens & towels are provided.

East Cottage is one of the oldest structures on campus, the original building being built in the early 18th century. Recently remodeled, the building now sleeps 10, with two or three per room. East cottage is adjacent to Doll Cottage, so these two cottages are often offered together to groups requiring up to 32 beds.

North Cottage was named after Bishop Harry Lee Doll, who served as Bishop of Maryland from 1963 to 1971. It sits on the northern most edge of campus. It is actually two cottages that are connected by a comfortable sunning deck. “Old North”, which was built in early 18th century, is newly remodeled and sleeps six. “New North” which was built in 1978 (also recently remodeled) has eight double occupancy rooms. A large meeting space and a kitchenette with coffee and tea service is provided in the lower level of New North. A piano is provided in the meeting space. Linens and towels are provided.

The Farmhouse (built in the early 1900’s) is ideally suited for small gatherings of up to ten people. Sleeping is two or three per room in a relaxed, home-like environment. There are three meeting spaces within the cottage. Coffee & tea service and linens & towels are provided.

The Director’s Residence is an attractive old farmhouse that offers comfortable sleeping accommodations for 8.  Offering a meeting room plus to sitting areas and a large porch, it is an ideal gathering spot for smaller groups.  Coffee & tea service and linens & towels are provided.
   


Dormitory

Powell Hall & Buckingham Farmhouse:  Buckingham Farmhouse is the oldest building on campus, dating back to 1790.  This historic landmark is connected to Powell Hall, which housed the Buckingham School for Boys from 1902 until 1946.  These unique buildings and be combined to sleep up to 103 in dormitory style quarters.  Smaller groups can book a portion of these buildings as well.  Powell provides two large meeting rooms.  Both Powell and Buckingham are co-located with the Agape Art Center as well as 5 breakout rooms and a coffee and tea service area.  Towels and linen service can be provided on request.
